Whitevale Golf Club Engages Thomas McBroom Associates Limited for Course Redesign
Toronto, Ontario, July 12, 2004 — Thomas McBroom Associates Limited have been contracted by Whitevale Golf Club to perform an extensive redesign of the popular, private golf course. Work will include a total bunker and tee renovation, a realignment of several holes, and some smaller alterations to improve playability.
Whitevale members voted overwhelmingly to move ahead with the $3 million renovation in the Special Meeting held on June 28. Work on the front nine will commence on September 7, 2004 and be completed by year-end 2004. Work on the back nine will commence in September 2005 with the entire project scheduled for completion by Spring 2006. Thomas McBroom stated, “Whitevale is truly a hidden gem in the Greater Toronto Area. You just can’t build a golf course like Whitevale today. I am looking forward to the opportunity to integrate my design ideas with the natural beauty of this layout.”
Along with the McBroom redesign, other improvements will include the creation of a 3-acre water reservoir and the installation of a two-line irrigation system. Whitevale Golf Club president, Walter Lemon, said “Our members are delighted with the ideas put forward by Thomas McBroom. His bunker designs are well respected throughout the industry and will form a signature feature of our golf course. McBroom’s changes will make Whitevale even more enjoyable to play and will increase the equity share value for our members.”
Whitevale Golf Club is a member-owned equity golf club, located just 30 minutes from downtown Toronto. Whitevale was built in 1959 on the banks of Duffins Creek near the Hamlet of Whitevale. In 1999 the members purchased the lands from the Ontario government, converting it into a private, equity golf club.
