Whitevale Golf Course Investment Yielding Great Returns
Toronto,
Ontario, June 28, 2005 — Whitevale Golf Club is investing $3 million
to upgrade its golf course and has retained Thomas McBroom & Associates
to oversee this project. Work on the front nine is now complete including
total bunker and tee renovations, realignment of several holes, and significant
playability improvements. Along with McBroom’s redesign, construction
of a reservoir and two-line irrigation system is also underway. The entire
project is scheduled for completion by Spring 2006.
Walter Lemon, Whitevale Club president said, “Our members are delighted with Thomas McBroom’s work on the front nine. The bunkers are beautiful and shot-making opportunities have been added that really test our more competitive golfers.” Tony Wilkins, Whitevale Club Professional noted, “We’ve just hosted our first outside tournaments of the year and the comments we are receiving are great. I’m looking forward to the feedback from the Toronto Star Amateur Qualifier we will be hosting on July 6, and from our upcoming media day on July 15.”
In September 2005, Whitevale’s back nine will undergo a complete redesign.
Whitevale was built in 1959 on the banks of Duffins Creek in Pickering. In 1999, the course was purchased from the Ontario government. Whitevale Golf Club is a member-owned equity golf club, located just 30 minutes from downtown Toronto.
