We're Back!

We were thrilled to officially open the course last Friday, and it was fantastic to see a full tee sheet with 267 players enjoying the day.

Many members shared positive feedback about the course conditions - credit goes to Kyle and his team for their outstanding work. The Food & Beverage service also received high praise, with special thanks to Fareena and her team, as well as Chef and his team for delivering a menu that impressed with both variety and quality.

Cam spent the weekend connecting with members, and I've heard great things about the golf department, including the back shop - well done to Cam and his team.

We're excited to welcome everyone back this weekend for our Opening Day events!

On Course Washroom Townhall

The On Course Washroom Committee has done a significant amount of work over the winter looking at options to replace our current on-course washrooms. These options comply with current and future regulations (health, waste, accessibility) and we are looking to ensure that they meet the needs of the membership as well.

We have shared our learnings and proposed options with member focus groups over the last few weeks and have taken this feedback into account to come up with two options to replace our current washrooms.

We are scheduling a Townhall on May 6 to share our findings, as well as present two different options for consideration.

The Townhall meeting details:

  • Date: Tuesday, May 6
  • Time: 7:00 p.m.
  • Attendance Options: In person, Zoom

Zoom details will be shared in a separate email. The email will also contain a link to a pre-read of the Townhall presentation. Please note that the Townhall will be recorded for anyone not available to attend.

After the Townhall, the Committee will review the feedback from the membership to align on a single option to replace our current on-course washrooms.

The vote to approve funding for the on-course washroom replacement will take place on June 10. Further details will be published in advance of the vote.

Welcome Back Members!

Thank you to all who have taken the time to comment on the great conditions. Let's keep the momentum up and ensure we are all doing our part to keep the course in great condition. Please remember to repair your ball marks on the greens and replace your divots on tees and fairways.

Fairway aerification is scheduled to begin next week. Please be mindful of maintenance staff when playing through this time-consuming process. We will do our best to work around play and minimize disruptions.

Don't Stress Over Your Lies

At the range, we always get a perfectly flat lie, but, as we know, this is seemingly never the case on the course. In most cases, the best advice for an awkward lie/stance is to keep things simple by not making a bunch of unnecessary adjustments. Unless the lie is extreme, it will only influence the ball's flight marginally. Don't get me wrong, it's good being aware that on sidehill lies, the ball will tend to curve toward the low side of the slope. And that if the ball is a couple of inches above your feet, you should grip down on the club an equivalent amount to counteract the slope. But beyond these considerations, direct your focus on making a normal golf swing, paying particular attention to maintaining good balance. By concentrating on your swing rather than your lie, you're more likely to commit to your shot and, as a consequence, get rewarded with a positive outcome.
