  • The turf department is repairing hundreds of un-repaired ball marks every day. Please remember to fix your ball marks, and grab an extra one or two if you can.

  • Just a reminder that tick populations are high, especially in the longer naturalized areas. Don’t forget to check yourself over after each round.

Driving Out of Trouble

Sometimes when you’re impeded by low-lying branches in front of you and need to advance the ball a long way, driver off the deck could be an option. First, you’ll have to assess the circumstances because they need to be just right, including an unobstructed backswing and a decent lie. Using driver, the ball is virtually guaranteed to go under the trees, it’s all but impossible to miss left(right for a lefty), and, even if you cold top the ball, it will still run out a decent distance. As far as swing modifications, because the face on the driver is so deep, position the ball a couple of inches back from your front heel so as to strike the ball slightly on the downswing thus allowing it to run up the face.
