Washroom Vote

On June 10, 87% of those members that voted, supported the resolution regarding the on-course washroom project.

Management now has a mandate to move forward and will continue to communicate and submit the Club's plan with all of the necessary governing bodies: Durham Region of Health, City of Pickering, Ministry of the Environment Conservation and Parks, and the Toronto Region Conservation Authority.

  • Poa seed head is coming to an end and greens have now been lowered to their final HOC (height of cut) for the season

  • Greens are currently running at 10.5 feet on the stimpmeter

  • Unfortunately, some gas was spilled on both 1 and 9 greens over this past weekend from a faulty gas cap on a blower. These spots are unsightly but will play just fine.

  • Along with unfixed ball marks, and unreplaced divots, the Turf Team is experiencing a lot of unraked footprints in the bunkers each morning.

  • Please do your part and properly rake your footprints and shots in bunkers, exit and enter in a flat location and place the rake neatly beside the bunker.

  • Maple keys have been a challenge over the last two weeks, but we should be almost through the worst of them. We will do our best to blow greens tees and fairways when covered.

  • A reminder to the first group of the day to pace yourself to a 4-hour round. If playing faster than this, expect to run into the Turf Team and have patience as we prepare the golf course. Some days require additional time to provide the conditions we all strive for. My team will not sacrifice safety or quality and rush through our morning responsibilities.

Pace of Play – Guidelines for Maintaining Pace

  1. Be Ready to Play
    1. Arrive at the tee 5 minutes before your scheduled start time.
    2. Use "ready golf" in a safe and respectful manner.
    3. Limit pre-shot routines and prepare for your shot while others are playing.
  2. Efficient Cart & Walking Usage
    • Drop off your partner at their ball, then proceed to yours.
    • Park carts or leave bags on the exit side of the green.
  3. Lost Ball Rule
    • Limit search to 3 minutes maximum.
    • If in doubt, play a provisional ball immediately.
  4. Putting Green Etiquette
    • Read putts while others are playing.
    • Continuous putting is encouraged when appropriate.
    • Leave the green promptly and record scores at the next tee.
  5. Tee It Forward
    • Play from tees appropriate for your skill level to improve enjoyment and pace.
  • Congratulations to our Jr’s who competed at The Thornhill Clun this Sunday, Whitevale was victorious!

This Week at the Clubhouse

With warmer weather finally here, we’re excited to bring you some fresh features and important updates for the week ahead!

Saturday BBQ Update (June 14th)

Our popular Saturday BBQ will now run from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM to accommodate the Nine and Dine event later in the afternoon. Come early and enjoy some great grilled favourites before heading out on the course!

Father’s Day Menu

Please note there will be no Prime Rib Dinner this Sunday, as we’ll be running our Father’s Day feature menu instead. It’s a great chance to celebrate the dads in your life with something special from the kitchen.

Don’t forget to make your reservations—we’re expecting a busy day! (Please insert Father’s Day Menu)

For reservations, please use Fortees or email Fareena at fsobhan@whitevalegolfclub.com.

New Cocktails

We’ve added two bold new cocktails to the lineup just in time for patio season—and they also happen to be Fareena’s favourites:

  • Fuego Caesar – A fiery twist on the classic, made with ghost pepper–infused vodka from local Durham Distillery. We’re proud to highlight this Ontario-made spirit—bold, flavourful, and locally crafted.
  • Spicy Margarita – This isn’t your average marg. Made with tequila infused in-house with fresh jalapeños, along with fresh lime juice and a touch of sweetness, it strikes the perfect balance between citrusy brightness and slow-building heat. Refreshing, bold, and made for sunny afternoons on the patio. (Please insert pic that I sent you on Whatsapp)

Beer & Seltzer Features

This week’s drink specials include:

  • Cracked Canoe – $6.00
  • Coors Cherry Seltzer – $7.00
  • Twisted Tea & Twisted Lemonade – $6.00 each

Ready-to-Drink Spotlight: Jamaican Rum Punch

We’re thrilled to introduce our new Jamaican Rum Punch—a bold, fruity RTD made from a family recipe and packing a punch at 12.5% alcohol. It’s absolutely delicious and sure to be a member favourite. Just $9.00 per can.

We look forward to seeing you at the clubhouse this week—cheers!

Rule of 3

For high handicappers, let’s arbitrarily say anyone with a handicap upward of 18, the Rule of 3 is a good barometer to measure the state of your short game. The principle of the rule is as follows: when your ball is greenside, you’re goal is to get the ball in the hole in 3 shots. Ideally the first shot gets you on the green followed by 2 putts. Any time it takes you more than 3 shots, you have broken the Rule of 3 and are wasting strokes. Anytime it takes you only 2 shots or, imagine it!, one shot, you’ve beaten the rule and have gained a shot(s). If 9 times in a round you’re greenside, even par that game would be 27. If you’ve kept it under 27, you’re under par; if you exceed 27, you’re over par. If you’re consistently over par, you need to work on your short game.
