A Quick Note on Club Dress Code

To ensure a pleasant and respectful atmosphere for everyone, here is a brief overview of our Club's dress code.

On the Golf Course:

  • Gentlemen: Collared golf shirts (must be tucked in) and golf pants or shorts. Hats worn forward.

  • Ladies: Golf shirts, sweaters, and golf pants, skirts, skorts, or shorts.

  • Not Permitted: Denim, t-shirts, tank tops, and cargo or athletic wear (like yoga/sweat pants) are not permitted on the course.

In the Clubhouse & On the Patio:

  • Golf attire or "smart casual" is the standard.

  • Clean, tailored denim (without rips or frays) is welcome.

  • Please remove sports hats when seated inside the Clubhouse.

Please ensure your guests are also aware of these standards. You can find the full dress code in the Reference Materials section of the website. Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining the welcoming environment of our Club!

Whitevale Women's Member Guest

Whitevale’s annual Women's Member Guest is being held on Thursday August 7th. This popular event is successful in large part due to the generous sponsorship of Whitevale members. We thank those who have supported the event in the past through monetary donations, prizes or auction items. If you are able to sponsor this year, contact Joanne Kajganich (littlejo@rogers.com). Any donation is welcome, but of particular interest are “experiences” such as spa treatments or tickets to a theatre or sporting event. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Our 2025 Longest Day of Golf on Friday, June 20th, was a resounding success!

The day began at 5:45 a.m. with golfers Kevan Goble, Jacquie Dunne, Craig Ferns, and Paul Stephenson playing an amazing seven rounds, with Wade Brackenbury also joining the effort. The day concluded with a moving tribute as bagpipers played the team onto the 18th green. A huge congratulations to all our raffle and silent auction winners. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our golfers, the legion of volunteers, our generous donors, and all the staff who made this cherished heritage event possible and so memorable.

So far the 2025 event has raised an incredible (unofficial) total of $25,738 for cancer research and it is not too late to make a contribution! Donations may still be made online at: https://fundraisemyway.cancer.ca/team/LDOG and we have one more raffle prize available...

  • As the summer heat is upon us, be patient as we increase our hand watering practices. Hand watering is key to ensure we aren’t wasting water or overwatering areas that don’t actually need it. During this weather, over watering can be very dangerous to turf health.

  • New sod will also struggle with this heat. Any sod that doesn’t survive will be replaced.

  • Turf will be under heat and drought stress as we move into the summer stress timeframe. As good as our irrigation system is, there are times when we are unable to water enough to compensate for water loss during the day. Turf is resilient and will bounce back after some timely rains.

  • Green speeds will also fluctuate and slow down during these times (high humidity) when the plant is unable to transpire efficiently and becomes swollen.

Don't Be in a Hurry

It stands to reason the more clubhead speed you create, the more potential you have for distance. However, if you have an abundance of speed, but do not strike the ball solidly, then that energy is mostly wasted. One of the fascinating discoveries using Trackman is that if someone “slows” his/her swing down, feeling as though he/she is only swinging at 75% capacity, his/her clubhead speed either stays the same or at most drops by a couple of miles an hour. And by swinging more “slowly”, all the pieces of that person’s swing now have a better opportunity to gel together, resulting in better sequencing and, ultimately, purer contact. Sounds counterintuitive, but by consciously “slowing” down your swing, you’ll likely hit longer, straighter shots.
