WEEK OF OCTOBER 30th

Frost Delays

As the temperatures drop, frost delays are expected. Our commitment is to protect the course while getting you on the tee sheet as quickly and safely as possible.

Key Communication Points:

  • We will let all members know there will be a delay at least 45 minutes before scheduled tee times start.
  • Accurately predicting the exact time the course will open is very difficult, as it depends on factors like the amount of frost, sunlight, wind, required maintenance, air and ground temperatures. We'll give our best estimate, but the final, specific start time won't be confirmed until 30 minutes before we can allow the first group out.
  • To ensure you don't miss your adjusted time, please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before your delayed tee time. Example: If your time was 8:30am, and we announce an estimated 60 to 90 minute delay, plan to be at the course by 9:15am.

We are dedicated to minimizing the delay and will always expedite maintenance where possible. Thank you for your patience as we manage these seasonal conditions.

Posting Scores

Please note, the active score posting season in Ontario is April 15th – October 31st.

Keep Your Balls Warm

The colder the temperature of your golf ball, the less it travels. It’s estimated that for every 10 degrees Fahrenheit drop in a ball’s temperature (it was an American study) a person will lose 2 yards of distance on his/ her drive. It’s not dramatic, but every yard counts! So when you play in the morning at Whitevale these days, and have left your balls in your bag over night in the backshop where the temperature is just above freezing, expect your drives to be 10 or more yards shorter than normal. Given that, it might be worth storing your game balls in a warm place overnight before your round? And during the round, perhaps keep a couple of backups in your pocket so they stay nice and toasty just in case your first ball gets lost in the leaves!
