2.1 Service of Alcohol

Whitevale Golf Club (WGC) is a licensed establishment registered with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. All alcoholic beverages will be served in compliance with A.G.C.O. rules and regulations. For those members not familiar with the A.G.C.O. rules governing the hours of alcohol service, they are as follows:

Licensed establishments:  
Monday to Sunday: 9 a.m. to 2 a.m.
New Year's Eve (December 31): 9 a.m. to 3 a.m.

These hours are applicable to the clubhouse, halfway house and beverage cart.

The licensee or permit holder may choose shorter hours of operation. Also restricted hours of sale and service may be established as a condition of a license. Serving hours remain the same on federal, provincial and municipal election days.

  • All Club Staff who serve alcoholic beverages to members and guests must have attained their “Smart Serve” certificate.  This program trains servers to identify the signs of intoxication and defines appropriate quantities of alcohol that can be served over a period of time. Employees must be a minimum of 18 years of age to serve liquor.
  • Club Management has been instructed to direct staff to refuse service of alcohol to any member or guest who they believe has over-consumed alcohol to a point of creating a potential inconvenience or danger to himself, herself or others. Any staff member has the authority to limit the amount of alcohol that is served to any member or guest.
  • Club Management and staff are expected to make every reasonable effort to prevent intoxicated members or their guests from driving a vehicle or golf cart.
  • A valid Age of Majority Card, Driver’s License with photo, Passport, Canadian armed forces card with a photo or a Liquor Control Board of Ontario BYID photo card are the only identification the Club will accept when the legal drinking age of a patron is in question.  Service of alcohol may be declined when acceptable identification cannot be produced.
  • All alcohol consumed on Whitevale Golf Club property by a member or guest must be purchased from Whitevale Golf Club.
