2.7 Cannabis Use and Impairment

Whitevale Golf Club provides a healthy and safe environment for its members, guests and staff. This policy is designed to ensure that our Cannabis Use and Impairment Policy is in alignment with our Strategic Mission and Vision of being a family focused club. It is our goal to reduce exposure to second-hand smoke and in keeping with the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, the Cannabis Statute Law Amendment Act and local bylaws.

This policy applies to all members and their guests who smoke cannabis or other cannabis related materials. This includes the use of all types of e-cigarettes ("vaping"), or any other implement or device used to emulate the act of smoking which involves the production of any airborne contaminants or substances and includes all forms of pipes, water pipes, holders, instruments, etc. that are used for similar purposes.

Smoking or vaping cannabis is permitted on the golf course as long as it does not have a negative impact on other members or their guests. We would ask that you use good judgement.

Where you cannot consume, smoke or vape cannabis:

  • inside, near or in or in view of the clubhouse, practice facility and parking lot
  • any other enclosed areas
  • and, all other areas that you may be having a negative impact to other members, their guests and families. We would ask that you use good judgement.

Driving impaired by cannabis or alcohol is illegal and dangerous. Cannabis, like many other drugs, slows your reaction time and increases your chances of being in a collision. This includes driving a golf cart or car if you are impaired. Do not drive a golf cart or motor vehicle if you are impaired.

All members and guests who violate this policy will be initially asked to cease using cannabis in a non-authorized area and will be asked to move to an authorized location.

Any individual who continues to violate this policy will be subject to disciplinary action through the Whitevale By-Laws and/or the authorities may be contacted.
