3.10 Social Media Policy

Purpose
The Club's Social Media Policy encourages Club promotion while protecting Club, member and employee privacy and reputation from inappropriate social media behaviour.

Objectives
To ensure Whitevale Golf Club members and staff understand the guiding principles and terms of use of social media websites and to encourage the development of an understanding of both the benefits and constraints in using social media.

Social Media is ...
The Internet provides many opportunities to communicate with staff, other individuals, other members and the Whitevale Golf Club community. Social media websites provide the opportunity for members to promote the community of members and Club activities. Members should be aware that the use of these websites can also be abused and potentially damage the reputation of Whitevale Golf Club.

It is Club policy that when using social media, members and employees will:

  • Promote the Club in a positive and optimistic manner.
  • Respect the privacy and reputation of the Club and its members and employees.
  • Not disclose confidential personal information about members and employees.
  • Not disclose confidential information about the Club and its practices or meant to be shared internally.
  • Disassociate the Club from opinions that do not represent the Club.
  • Disassociate the Club from sexual, profane, excessively violent or similar inappropriate information.

Whitevale Golf Club has the right to remove any content.

Breach of Policy
If a member fails to uphold the policy they may face disciplinary consequences.
