4.1 Leave of Absence

Medical Leave of Absence
A Medical Leave of Absence is available to any equity member in good standing whose personal medical situation prevents him or her from playing golf. To qualify for this leave, the member must provide a doctor’s certificate that states the nature of the infirmity and that they cannot play golf until their health situation changes.

Should a member on a medical leave wish to test his or her ability to play golf again, club management may provide access to the practice facilities or to a trial round of golf, at its discretion.

A member may stay on medical leave for three consecutive playing seasons, and must provide a new doctor's certificate each year.

Out-of-Town Leave of Absence
An Out-of-Town Leave of Absence is available to any equity member in good standing who has been required by an employer to move his or her residence more than 125 km away from Whitevale Golf Club. To qualify for this leave, the member must provide a proof of address change and documentation from the employer stating that the move was required.

A member may stay on out-of-town leave for three consecutive playing seasons, and must provide proof of residence each year.

Personal Leave of Absence
A Personal Leave of Absence is available to any equity member in good standing who is temporarily facing a personal hardship or adversity that makes it impossible or impractical to play golf. To qualify for this leave, the member must provide a letter stating the reason that the leave is being requested, along with supporting documentation.

A member on personal leave has full use of the practice facilities and may play one round of golf per month paying full guest greens fees. A member may stay on personal leave for one playing season.

All Leaves
The minimum stay on a leave of absence is three months during the golf season.  In the event that a member wishes to end a leave in less than three months, full fees must be paid for the entire period of the leave.

While on leave, fees will be reduced in accordance with the fee schedule that is in effect, and food and beverage minimums will not apply. Amounts will be prorated over the six-month golf season. On return from a leave of absence, the member will be placed in his or her original equity category.

To obtain a leave, the member must apply in writing to the Board. The granting of a leave is at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors, and the Board reserves the right to terminate a leave at any time.
