4.11 Equity Membership

By-Law No. 1, Section 3.2 states that Whitevale Golf Club offers two classes of membership: Equity and Associate. The purpose of this policy is to provide a high level description of the 3 categories of Equity Membership at Whitevale. Additional details of Equity and Associate classes can be found in the various policies and procedures located at the Reference Materials section of the website.

Each of the 531 Equity Members of Whitevale Golf Club owns a transferable membership in, and while in good standing is a voting member of, the Club; and subject to applicable law, is entitled to participate in the distribution of the net assets of the Club upon dissolution.

Golfing Privileges

Each Equity Member is assigned a category which identifies both their golfing privileges and their dues and obligations.

Category A - Members in Category A have full access to the golf course, 7 days per week, subject to any other tee time restrictions that may be in effect. Specifically, they:

may place ballots in the tee time lottery, 8 days in advance of the date of play;
may book tee times on any day and at any time; and
may play in all club events

Category B - Members in Category B have full 5-day access to the golf course and partial weekend and holiday access, subject to any other tee time restrictions that may be in effect. Specifically, they may:

place ballots in the tee time lottery, 8 days in advance of the date of play;
book tee times on any day Monday through Friday at any time;
book tee times on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays starting at 12:00 noon;
play in all club events; and
one day in advance, book tee times before 12:00 noon on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays upon payment of a fee.

Category C -Members in Category C have full 5-day access to the golf course and limited weekend and holiday access, subject to any other tee time restrictions that may be in effect. Specifically, they may:

place ballots in the tee time lottery, 8 days in advance of the date of play;
book tee times on any day Monday through Friday at any time;
book tee times on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays starting at 4:30 p.m.;
one day in advance, book tee times after 12:01 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays upon payment of a fee;
may play in weekday club events along with Men's and Women's Opening and Closings.

The C Category is closed to new or transferring members. As a result, any prospective member shall join the Club as a B Category Member. Existing C Category Members in good standing may remain in that category.

Category Membership Limits:

There shall be no more than 300 members in Category A at one time.

There shall be no more than 231 members in Categories B and C at one time.

Change of Category

With the exception of Category C, which is closed to new or transferring members, Equity Members may move between Categories A and B subject to the category membership limits above. If a category is at capacity, the member will be placed on a waitlist until such time as a spot becomes available.

Fees & Expenses

Equity Members pay annual membership fees that are approved each fall by the Board of Directors for the upcoming golf season.

Equity Members are required to pay a minimum food & beverage “minimum” each year. This charge is divided into two halves; the first half applies to the period from April to July and the second from August to October.

Equity Members are required to pay an assessment each year.

Other

Equity Members in good standing:

have golf club storage;
are paid-up members of Golf Canada and have an official Golf Canada handicap;
have a locker;
may hold office and vote in elections.

The Board of Directors reserves the right to change the hours of access, and the privileges, fees or other considerations at any time.
