4.17 Spousal/Partner Associate Membership
The purpose of this policy is to describe Spousal/Partner Membership, one type of Associate Membership at Whitevale Golf Club.
The Spousal/Partner Membership provides the spouse or partner* of an Equity or an Intermediate Associate Member the opportunity to play golf at limited times and to enjoy the benefits of the private club experience without making the commitment of purchasing a share.
A maximum of 40 Spousal/Partner Associate Members may exist at one time.
* For this policy, “partner” is defined as a member of an unmarried couple who live together and are in a long-term, committed relationship.
Golfing Privileges
Spousal/Partner Associate Members have limited 7-day access to the golf course, subject to any other tee time restrictions that may be in effect. Specifically, they:
- may place ballots in the tee time lottery, 8 days in advance of the desired date of play;
- must be accompanied by an Equity Member or an Intermediate Associate Member, either in good standing, when playing golf;
- may book tee times on any day starting at 4:30 p.m.; provided that as of September 15th, Spousal/Partner Associate Members may book tee times starting at 3:30 p.m.;
- will be limited to 40 tee times per season; provided that they may also play as a guest of an Equity Member or an Intermediate Associate Member, up to six times per year at the full guest fee, subject to the guest booking restrictions then in effect.
- may only play in club events that are designated for Spousal/Partner Associate Members, subject to any special eligibility requirements; and they will have limited access to scheduled late afternoon Equity Member events (as determined by the Membership Committee of the Board).
Fees & Expenses
Spousal/Partner Associate Members pay annual membership fees that are approved each fall by the Board of Directors for the upcoming golf season. Fees in effect may be found in the Membership Fee Schedule.
Spousal/Partner Associate Members shall pay the same minimum food & beverage charge as that payable by their Equity Member or Intermediate Associate Member spouse or partner.
Spousal/Partner Associate Members do not pay assessments.
Other Considerations
Spousal/Partner Associate Members:
- have golf club storage, if it is available;
- are paid-up members of Golf Canada and have an official Golf Canada handicap;
- will have a locker, space permitting;
- may not book reciprocal tee times;
- may not hold office or vote.
The Board of Directors reserves the right to discontinue or to change the privileges, terms or fees of the Spousal/Partner Associate Membership category at any time.
